Pasadena-based healthcare tech firm, Ventric Health, has launched a revolutionary non-invasive heart failure diagnosis system called Vivio®. This new technology changes the way heart failure is traditionally diagnosed by estimating elevated left ventricular end-diastolic pressure (LVEDP), a key indicator of heart health.
Traditionally, measuring LVEDP required an invasive hospital procedure. But the Vivio® System, which includes a modified blood pressure cuff, a Bluetooth-enabled ECG, and a unique algorithm, can identify patients with elevated LVEDP in a non-invasive way.
The effectiveness of the Vivio® System was tested in a study involving 728 patients across the US. The results were promising, with the system showing a sensitivity of 0.80 and a specificity of 0.83, according to the company.
Dr. David M. Shavelle, the study’s principal investigator, believes the Vivio® device could play a vital role in detecting elevated LVEDP without invasive procedures. Derek Rinderknecht, Ph.D., the Chief Technological Officer at Ventric Health, also highlighted the potential of this new technology.
The Vivio® System reportedly received FDA clearance in October 2023.
