Christopher Richmond, charged with murder in the death of his infant son, is scheduled to stand trial Wednesday, September 4 at 8:30 a.m. in Department F of the Pasadena Courthouse.
Richmond was initially arrested on suspicion of child abuse following a September 25, 2022 incident in South Pasadena. Authorities responded to a call about a newborn not breathing in the 300 block of Grace Drive.
The unresponsive infant was airlifted to Ronald Reagan Memorial Hospital in Westwood and admitted in critical condition. Richmond was formally charged with felony child abuse on October 3, 2022.
After nearly five months of hospitalization, the 6-month-old child died on February 18, 2023. Following the death, homicide detectives began investigating the case.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department, which handled the investigation, worked with the District Attorney’s Office to amend Richmond’s charges to include murder.
Investigators have asked anyone with additional information about the incident to contact the Sheriff’s Department’s homicide bureau.
Richmond is presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. The case remains under investigation as it moves through the legal system.
The trial will take place at the Pasadena Courthouse, located at 300 E. Walnut St.
