The National Weather Service released a long-range forecast early Tuesday that predicted the Jan. 2 Rose Parade would roll down Colorado Boulevard in Pasadena Monday under “mostly sunny skies” and 60 degree temperatures.
The Parade will be held Jan. 2 in keeping with the Tournament of Roses ‘Never on a Sunday’ rule.
The NWS predicted a wet wintry buildup, however, saying Pasadena will see rain starting Tuesday which lasts until Friday, and returns on Saturday. The rain should exit the area early Sunday and skies will clear. Monday afternoon could see increasing clouds.
Temperatures will drop from highs in the 70s over Christmas weekend down to the mid-to-low 60s all week.
Here is the detailed NWS forecast for Pasadena issued at 3:26 a.m. Tuesday:
Today: Rain likely after 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 63. Calm wind becoming south southeast around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Tonight: Rain, mainly before 4am. Low around 48. South wind around 5 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%.
Wednesday: A 40 percent chance of rain before 10 a.m. Mostly cloudy, then gradually becoming sunny, with a high near 65. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
Wednesday Night: Increasing clouds, with a low around 46. Northwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming east northeast after midnight.
Thursday: A slight chance of rain between 10 am and 4 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 57. South wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 20%.
Thursday Night: A 20 percent chance of rain after 10 p.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48.
Friday: Mostly cloudy, with a high near 61.
Friday Night: A chance of rain, mainly after 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 52.
Saturday: Rain, mainly after 10 a.m. Cloudy, with a high near 61.
Saturday Night: Rain, mainly before 4 a.m. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 48.
New Year’s Day: A chance of rain. Mostly sunny, with a high near 61.
Sunday Night: Partly cloudy, with a low around 42.
Monday: Mostly sunny, with a high near 60.
