Man Accosted, Struck by Armed Robber in Public Restroom

Police say a 62-year-old man who had stopped to use the restroom in Washington Park Sunday morning was confronted by a robber armed with a handgun who demanded money and struck the victim in the head with the butt of the gun.

The victim managed to escape and call police.

Pasadena Police Lt. Ed Calatayud said the suspect is a black man of about 35 years of age with short black hair.

The victim received a small laceration but refused medical treatment.

Calatayud said that an investigation by detectives is ongoing.
