A man who was charged with the shooting death of a man in Pasadena 28 years ago will be back at the Pasadena Courthouse Tuesday for a preliminary hearing of his murder case.

Albert Ahmad Clark, 54, pleaded not guilty to the murder charge in January.

Records show that on February 27, 1988, victim Leroy Galloway was selling jewelry out of his van parked at a gas station on Lake Avenue and Orange Grove Boulevard in Pasadena.

Clark is charged with killing Galloway by shooting him multiple times, the prosecutor added.

Although Clark was arrested in 1989 and charged with shooting the victim multiple times, the case was dismissed due to a lack of sufficient evidence and the limitations on forensic science at the time.

Galloway’s family asked Pasadena police to review the case in 2013. Investigators were able to retrieve evidence to implicate and charge Clark with the murder, the DA’s office said.

Clark was arrested in December 2015 and remains in jail in lieu of $2 million bail.

Deputy District Attorney Ryan Erlich is prosecuting the case.
