A drunken man attacked a manager with a chair at Lovebirds Cafe in Pasadena after being asked to leave the establishment on Thursday, officials said.
The incident unfolded about 2:45 p.m. at the restaurant, 921 E. Colorado Blvd., Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.
A man had become drunk and was causing a disturbance at the business, according to the lieutenant.
When a manager, a 28-year-old man, asked the drunken man to leave, the suspect “picked up a chair and swung it at him,” Burgess said.
The victim suffered an abrasion to his head but was not seriously hurt, officials said.
Officers found and detained the alleged attacker as he was walking out of the area, Burgess said.
Marcel Derush, 45, described as transient, was arrested on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon, according to police and Los Angeles County booking records.
Bail was set $40,000 pending his initial court appearance, scheduled Monday in the Pasadena branch of L.A. County Superior Court.
