A man repeatedly stabbed his roommate with a pocket knife at a Pasadena home before being arrested on Monday night, authorities said.

The alleged attack took place about 10:10 p.m. in the 700 block of Worcester Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.

A witness called 911 to report one of his roommates had just stabbed another, according to the lieutenant.

Responding officers found the victim, a man in his early-20s, outside of the home suffering from multiple stab wounds to his upper torso, Dawkins said. The injuries were considered to be serious, but not believed to be life-threatening.

Moises De La Paz, 24, was still at the home, he said. Police arrested him on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon.

The victim relayed that he was in the kitchen of the home when De La Paz emerged from his bedroom armed with a 4-inch pocket knife and suddenly began stabbing him, without any apparent provocation, Dawkins said.

The motive in the stabbing was not clear.

According to Los Angeles County booking records, bail for De La Paz was set at $30,000 pending his initial appearance in the Pasadena branch of L.A. County Superior court, scheduled Wednesday.
