Police said a man using the public restroom facilities at Jackie Robinson Park Sunday afternoon was attacked from behind by a robber who punched him in the head and kicked him before stealing the victim’s wallet and fleeing.

Sgt. Kate Favara said the 4:35 p.m. attack in the 1000 block of North Fair Oaks Ave. injured the man sufficiently that officers called Fire Dept. paramedics to the scene. The victim was transported to a local hospital but the extent of his injuries are not known by police.

Favara said the suspect was not apprehended. He is described as a young black man about 24 years of age wearing a red T-shirt.
