A man managed to escape unharmed after gunfire erupted in a residential neighborhood in Pasadena on Tuesday night, officials said.
The shooting took place just before 8:30 p.m. in the area of Esther Street and Raymond Avenue, Pasadena police Lt. Marcia Taglioretti said.
The apparent intended target of the shooting came under fire, but was able to get into a car and drive away, she said.
No further details, including a suspect description, were available as the investigation remained in its early stages.
The area has been dealing with a surge of violence in recent weeks and months.
Tuesday’s attack took place less than half a mile from the scene of another shooting at Parke Street and Garfield Avenue on Sunday afternoon that left a 10-year-old boy seriously wounded as he played in front of his own home.
Two men were shot to death and a third was wounded at nearby Villa Parke on Dec. 1.
