A 65-year-old man was hospitalized in grave condition after he was struck by a car while crossing a street in Pasadena on Wednesday evening, authorities said.
The collision took place about 7:15 p.m. along Corson Street, between Hudson and Lake avenues, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said.
Witnesses indicated the man, described as a Pasadena resident, was attempting to walk north across Corson Street when he was struck, he said.
One vehicle swerved to miss the man, but the driver of a second car was unable to avoid a collision, according to Burgess.
The driver of the involved Ford Mustang remained at the scene, and no crime was initially suspected, the lieutenant said.
Paramedics took the badly injured man to a hospital, where he was listed in grave condition on Thursday, he said.
Any witnesses, or anyone with information, can reach the Pasadena Police Department at (626) 744-4501.
