Authorities on Sunday released the identity of a 27-year-old Pasadena man who was shot to death in a residential neighborhood near Villa Parke on Friday night.

Ernesto Ramos Jimenez died shortly after the shooting, which took place about 8:15 p.m. along Parke Street, between Marengo and Garfield avenues, according to Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner Investigator Nani Cholakians. He was initially described by police as 29 years old.

Jimenez had been walking down a sidewalk on the south side of the street when an unknown assailant or assailant opened fire, striking him “numerous times,” Pasadena police said in a written statement. The badly wounded victim began to run, but soon collapsed.

Paramedics pronounced Jimenez dead on the sidewalk, officials said.

Further details, including a suspect description and motive, have not been released.
