A man in his 20’s died instantly after jumping from the old Colorado Street Bridge in Pasadena on Saturday, police said.

Pasadena Police Lt, Cheryl Moody said in a statement that the man’s identity is being withheld while relatives are still being informed about his death. However, Moody informed media that the man was of Asian or Hispanic descent.

The incident happened around 3:15 pm and the body was located in a fenced-off portion east of Arroyo Boulevard, authorities say.

The historic bridge, which was built in 1913, reaches over Arroyo Seco in Eastern Pasadena and overlooks the Rose Bowl and is referred to by locals as “Suicide Bridge.”
