A man was robbed at gunpoint while awaiting a rideshare in Pasadena on Tuesday, police said.

The crime unfolded about 12:15 a.m. on Tuesday in the 700 block of North Marengo Avenue, but the victim did not report it until the following day out of fear, Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.

Police said the victim, a man in his 30s, was standing in front of a home waiting for a rideshare he had ordered when a four-door sedan pulled up next to him, the lieutenant said.

Four men exited the car and surrounded the victim, he said. One of them brandished a pistol.

The robbers slapped the victim’s cell phone from his hand and ripped his gold chain from his neck before returning to their car and speeding away south on Marengo Ave, Dawkins said.

The gunman was described as a Latino man in his 20s, about 5 feet 9 inches tall and 200 pounds, with black hair, police said.

He was accompanied by three additional robbers, also described as men in their 20s.
