Officers went to Peoria Street and Fair Oaks Avenue about 8:50 p.m. after receiving a ShotSpotter alert and multiple 911 calls, according to Lt. Rudy Lemos.
The arriving officers found the wounded man conscious and breathing, suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound, Lemos said.
Paramedics took him to a local hospital for treatment, he said. The victim is a 35-year-old man from Winchester, Calif.
“Nobody’s in custody. No information [is available] on suspects. No weapon was recovered,” Lemos said. “Robbery homicide unit responded and took over the investigation.”
Lemos said officers arrived at the scene of the shooting within one minute of receiving the ShotSpotter alert in their patrol car.
ShotSpotter is a technology that detects gunshots and automatically notifies police, according to the company’s website.
