On October 28, Reformation Sunday, Messiah Lutheran Church/Iglesia Luterana Mesías of Pasadena will celebrate its 100th anniversary. Festivities will include coffee and refreshments at 10:00a.m., a celebration service in English and Spanish at 11:00 a.m., and a multicultural luncheon at 12:30p.m. The church is located at 570 E. Orange Grove Blvd., (corner of Orange Grove and Madison). All are welcome. For additional information, please contact Ginger Berglund at (310)428-5515 or v_berglund@yahoo.com.

Messiah/Mesías began its life in 1912 as Svenska Evangelisk Lutherska Trefaldighets Forsamlingen i Pasadena California, a Swedish-speaking congregation. The name later changed to Trinity Swedish Evangelical Lutheran Church, and in 1933 it became Messiah Lutheran Church. Swedish-language services continued until 1938. Worship has been held in the current church building at Madison and Orange Grove since its construction and dedication in 1925.

A century after its founding, Messiah/Mesías continues a bilingual and multicultural tradition. Carrying out its mission as a neighborhood church, it conducts weekly Sunday services in English at 10:00a.m. and Spanish at noon.
