Middle School Students Honored by Woman’s Civic League

Published on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 | 12:31 pm

At their May 1, luncheon, the Woman’s Civic League of Pasadena honored six young women from Pasadena Unified Middle School for significant improvement in their grades, despite dealing with physical and/or environmental problems. Learning of their efforts to overcome various obstacles is always inspiring. The League hopes that by acknowledging these young women, they make them feel valued and inspires them to continue the hard work needed to meet their life goals.

Besides a Certificate of Achievement each girl received a $100 Gift Certificate from Target and centerpieces, created by League member Joanie Smith, consisting of a gift basket loaded with goodies and a colorful beach towel.

In 1911 the Woman’s Civic League’s founder, Clara Burdette, invited 50 women to join her in creating a higher sense of civic responsibility through membership in the Woman’s Civic League. For more information call (626) 888-9404 or visit www.wclpasadena.org.
