More Primary Voting Numbers Expected to be Released on Tuesday

Election watchers could get a better idea of how the local races will turn out after the latest vote counts are released on Tuesday..

The update is the second update after the June 7 election which saw local voters go to the polls and selected candidates in three City Council races and three races for the Pasadena City College Board of Trustees.

In District 3, incumbent John Kennedy maintains a healthy lead over Brandon Lamar. In District 5. Jess Rivas ran unopposed.

The District 7 race is currently garnering the most attention. In that race Jason Lyon leads Ciran Hadjian and Allen Shay. Lyon remains above 50 percent with a 52.6% lead, ahead of Hadjian (36.4%). Shay has nearly 11 percent of the vote (10.92%).

If Lyon can maintain more than 50% of the lead he would avoid a runoff election and win the race outright.

Last Friday, more than 169,000 ballots were added to the overall total counted.

Further tallies are scheduled for June 17, June 2,1 June 24, and June 28 if needed.

California state law requires the County Registrar to complete and certify results within 30 days. This provision of the law recognizes the complexity of completing the ballot count and conducting a thorough audit of the election results to ensure accuracy.
