Deputies hoisted a mountain biker from a precarious position dangling from the side of a steep cliff in the Angeles National Forest above Altadena on Thursday morning, officials said.

The mountain biker took a spill along the Mt. Wilson Toll Road and ended up trapped on an extremely steep cliffside, according to Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department officials and photos of the rescue.

The department’s Air 5 helicopter responded to the scene, where tactical medical hoisted the victim into a helicopter.

It was not immediately clear whether the bicyclist was injured.
