In the US, one in six men will be diagnosed with prostate cancer in their lifetime, making it the most diagnosed cancer after skin cancer.

Testicular cancer is the most common form of cancer in young men between 15 and 35. Though highly treatable, 7,920 new cases are expected to be diagnosed in 2013 alone.

Most men don’t often talk about mental health, and this can be a problem. The shame and embarrassment that they feel about mental health prevents them from seeking help and taking action, despite the fact that over 6 million men are diagnosed with depression each year.

Three issues worth fighting for. Three conditions worth raising awareness for. Three reasons to support Movember.

‘Movember’ is the time of year when men and women across the globe join together to raise awareness and funds for men’s health. An amalgamation of the words ‘Mo’ (short for mustache) and ‘November,’ it is the time when men grow their Mo’s for the 30 days of November as a sign of support for the cause.

The movement began in 2003 in Melbourne, Australia, when 30 “Mo Bros” first grew mustaches for the cause. Since then, Movember has grown to become a worldwide phenomenon, inspiring more than 3.9 million Mo Bros and “Mo Sistas” to participate across 21 countries. The movement has now raised a total of $446 million, used to fund 557 Movember projects.

To help push Movember forward, Trattoria Neapolis is encouraging customers to drink beer for men’s health. How does it help? Well, the Certified Market in Monrovia has donated a keg of Golden Road Better Weather IPA for the cause, and Trattoria Neapolis will be selling this fine American Double IPA (9.4%) for only $5 a glass. One hundred percent of the sales price will be used for the benefit of men’s health.

Help fight prostate and testicular cancer, and raise awareness for men’s mental health this Movember at Trattoria Neapolis.
