Former John Muir High School basketball standout Jaque Vaughn has been named the interim coach of the Brooklyn Nets.

He attended Kansas and was drafted 27th in the first round by the Utah Jazz.

Vaughn replaced Steve Nash who was fired from the Nets on Tuesday.

Vaughn is in his 13th year as an NBA coach, he has also worked as an assistant with the Spurs. He spent three seasons as the head coach of the Orlando Magic and complied a 58-158 record with the team.

This is Vaughn’s second stint as interim coach with the team. In 2019-20 he guided the Nets to a 7-3 record. That year the nets entered the playoffs as the No. 7 seed in the east. The team was eliminated by the Toronto Raptors in the first round of the playoffs.
