In the spirit of National Public Safety Telecommunications Week, the Pasadena Police Department would like to recognize their dispatchers for the vital role they play in public safety.
Before assistance can respond in the form of uniform personnel, the initial call takers and dispatchers handle the incoming calls for service and provide important direction to first responders behind the scenes. They are an instrumental component to the officers’ response and incident resource requests.
During 2012, the Pasadena PD Dispatch Center managed over 367,000 incoming calls. Police dispatchers are one of PPD’s Unsung Heroes, the Dept. says.
