Pasadena public health officials reported no COVID-19 infections or deaths in the city on Monday.

The city’s pandemic totals stood at 11,273 known cases of the virus and 346 fatalities. The last deaths in the city were reported on April 30.

Over the prior week, health officials documented 2.1 new infections each day, according to Pasadena Public Health Department records.

The Los Angeles County Department of Health reported 161 new infections and four deaths on Monday, although statistics tend to lag over the weekend.

In all, the county has seen 1,237,561 confirmed COVID-19 cases and 24,097 fatalities.

L.A. County Director of Public Health Dr. Barbara Ferrer reported 322 COVID-19 patients were hospitalized on Monday.

Ferrer announced Monday that the agency intended to keep in step with the state in requiring vaccinated people to continue wearing masks indoors until June 15.

“While we’re relieved by these low numbers, there continues to be transmission of COVID-19 in L.A. County, particularly among those who are not fully vaccinated. For that reason, the state will be keeping current masking guidance as-is until June 15, and we in L.A. County will do the same,” Ferrer said.

“With almost 56% of L.A. County residents not yet fully vaccinated, and all of our children under 12 not yet able to get vaccinated, masking, distancing and infection control remain critically important strategies at many sites and at many activities,” Ferrer said.

Public health officials at the state level announced 995 new infections and 11 deaths on Monday, raising the state’s totals to 3,665,904 cases of COVID-19 and 61,510 fatalities.

The statewide average positivity rate was recorded at 0.9%, according to California Department of Public Health data.

As of Monday, L.A. County represented 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 39% of the state’s deaths.
