Woman Killed, 4 Others Hurt in 2-Car Crash in Pasadena

[UPDATED] A Pasadena woman died and four other people were hurt in a two-car crash along South Fair Oaks Avenue Tuesday night, authorities said.

Juanita Lucinda Johnson, 49, was killed in the crash, Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner-Coroner spokeswoman Sarah Ardalani said.

The crash took place just before 8:30 p.m. at South Fair Oaks Avenue and Glenarm Street, Pasadena police Lt. Sean Dawkins said.

One car was westbound on Glenarm Street just prior to the crash, while the other was headed north on Fair Oaks Avenue, he said.

Video footage from the scene showed the westbound vehicle was a Kia, while the northbound car was an Audi.

The northbound car broadsided the eastbound car in the intersection, according to Dawkins. The status of the traffic signals at the intersection at the time of the crash remained under investigation.

Pasadena Fire Department pronounced the driver the Kia, later identified as Johnson, dead at the scene at 8:42 p.m., officials said.

Three passengers inside the Kia, including an 18-month-old child, suffered apparently moderate injuries Lt. Anthony Russo said.

The driver of the Audi, described as a Pasadena man in his 30s, was treated for injuries including a broken leg, he said.

“All parties were contacted and cooperative,” Dawkins said.

The circumstances and cause of the crash were being investigated by the Pasadena Police Department’s Major Accident Investigations Team, he added. DUI was not initially suspected.

The identity of the woman killed in the crash was not released Wednesday pending notification of family by coroner’s officials.
