Pacific Oaks College Launches School of Global Leadership and Management

Pacific Oaks College in Pasadena has launched a new School of Global Leadership and Management aimed at providing an enhanced insight into the modern business landscape for its students. 

The school, a statement by the college said, aligns with Pacific Oaks’ core values of diversity, inclusion, respect, and social justice. It seeks to prepare students to become effective leaders in an interconnected and rapidly changing world.

As part of the new school, the college’s BS in Business Administration program now mandates students to complete a digital internship with a company in another country, and to participate in a one-week in-person study abroad trip. The MA in Organizational Leadership & Management program also offers a digital internship, although it’s not a graduation requirement.

Dr. Ja Ne’t Rommero, administrative faculty in the Department of Academic Affairs, said the increased global focus enhances the already high-quality education that Pacific Oaks’ business and management students receive. 

“Experience enriched by international perspectives helps prepare our students to become leaders who are sensitive to diverse local and global communities,” she said.

Rommero said Pacific Oaks College students are benefitting from their global experiences. 

“The students are virtually going to places that include Peru, Columbia, South Africa, the Ivory Coast, and Switzerland,” she said.

Working with various organizations, students in the program have been consulting with global companies on hiring practices, conducting and streamlining interviews, addressing employee self-care, improving internal communication, fundraising, and project management. They’re also making a positive impact in fields they are passionate about, Rommero said.

“Each person is working on something that not only complements their studies and goals in the U.S. but can facilitate change in the global organizations they’re working with,” she explains.

In the fall semester of 2023, students who are currently pursuing a BS in Business Administration will have the opportunity to study in Berlin, Germany, where they are expected to gain a more in-depth understanding of business in the city by visiting federal ministries, museums, businesses, and schools, and attend lectures as well.
