Parsons Corporation is looking to hire an experienced Senior Architect to serve at the company’s Pasadena office and lead design efforts supporting its public transportation projects across North America.
In a listing on the Jobs page on its website, Parsons said it is looking for applicants who hold a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture or an equivalent degree, with typically more than eight years of related experience. A professional registration is also highly desirable, the listing said.
The senior architect will perform a wide variety of difficult architectural assignments by applying architectural design standards, practices, and techniques.
The selected senior architect will serve in a leadership role to coordinate and manage design efforts for public transportation projects across North America; manage design efforts for transit stations, maintenance facilities, urban design projects, and other facilities supporting public transportation projects.
He or she will also perform a variety of assignments such as conducting architectural studies, developing design concepts and design criteria, and preparing related reports; review CAD drawings, renderings, layouts, study models, construction documents, and color boards prepared by architectural designers; and ensure compliance with applicable codes, standards, and client requirements.
The successful applicant will also provide technical consultations for interdisciplinary analytical studies and analyses; write construction specifications and prepares detailed requisitions for equipment and materials; interface with suppliers as required; review supplier drawings and samples, and performs technical bid analyses; coordinate work with engineering and construction units at project site; review, approve, and issue detailed design and construction drawings and specifications prepared by others; and provide the seal and signature of a professional architect when required by statute or contract.
Other tasks will include providing technical guidance to lower-level architects and architectural designer/drafters working on the same project; keeping abreast of current technologies via technical subscriptions and attendance at conferences; and preparing staffing estimates and execution plans.
To further qualify, the applicant shall be proficient in the application of architectural design standards, practices, techniques, and concepts; and proficient in CAD and other PC software packages typically associated with architectural design. The ability to make presentations to clients and others is also preferred, according to the listing.
Parsons Corporation was founded in 1944 as the Ralph M. Parsons Company in Los Angeles, delivering electronics, instrumentation, ground checkout systems design, and engineering for aircraft, missiles and rockets during the Cold War. In 1974, the company established its headquarters in Pasadena.
In February 2019, Parsons announced it was moving its headquarters from Pasadena to Centreville, Virginia, but retained an office in Pasadena at 100 West Walnut Street.
