Pasadena Area Leo Club Asks Community to Support Their Food Drive

Published on Monday, May 9, 2022 | 9:14 am

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, food scarcity has affected the lives of over 54 million Americans nationwide. With the pandemic reducing income rates among millions of Americans, increasing grocery prices, and disruption of food supply chains, it has become increasingly difficult for low-income families to be able to afford food.

In such a critical time in our lives, it has become increasingly important for communities to help each other through the challenges caused by the pandemic.

Thus, the Pasadena “Leos Club,” a club part of the larger Lions Club International group, has dedicated their next service project to help alleviate this worsening food insecurity by hosting a local food drive during the month of May.

The Pasadena Area Leo Club is a student-run club from different schools in the Pasadena area sponsored by Pasadena Host Lions Club. The Pasadena Host Lions Club has continuously served for over 100 years and together, the Lions and Leos work in the Pasadena area to help people in need.

The Pasadena Area Leo Club integrates the three values of “Leadership, Experience, Opportunity” to continue to “kindly and humbly serve” individuals in the Pasadena area. Some projects they have completed over the years include helping with vision screenings partnering with California Friends in Sight, creating COVID-19 health hygiene kits, and hosting a similar food drive in February of 2020.

For this food drive, the Pasadena Leos Club will be asking for individuals in  the Pasadena community to donate to their local food banks including Foothill Unity, Los Angeles World Harvest Food Bank, Union Station Foundation, Salvation Army, and Friends in Deed to serve individuals who come to these food banks.

The Pasadena Leos encourage you to join them on Saturday, May 28, 2022 at Ralph’s Grocery Store at Foothill Rosemead Market Place located at 3601 E Foothill Blvd., Pasadena. The drive will run from 11:00 A.M. to 3:00 P.M. for your shopping needs. The Leos will be present to ask for donations for the local food banks in the area.

Every donation helps, the Leos say.

Listed below are the other donation sites where people can donate:
