Tetra Tech, Inc., a Pasadena-based consulting and engineering services firm, has acquired Hoare Lea, a leader in sustainable engineering design in the United Kingdom, according to a company statement.

Hoare Lea, established in 1862, is an industry-leading MEP (mechanical, electrical and plumbing) consulting firm with more than 900 employees. Hoare Lea will be joining Tetra Tech’s High Performance Buildings Group, a global alliance of MEP firms, which consists of Cosentini Associates and Glumac in the U.S., and Norman, Disney and Young (NDY) in Australia and the Asia Pacific region, the statement continued.

“The addition of Hoare Lea to our High Performance Buildings Group further advances Tetra Tech’s industry-leading sustainable building solutions for our commercial and government clients,” Dan Batrack, Tetra Tech Chairman and CEO, said. “They join our global practice that provides state-of-the-art net zero carbon design, digital engineering and building intelligence for the future of the built environment.”

Justin Spencer, Managing Partner at Hoare Lea, said they are excited to be joining the Pasadena firm.

“Engineers play a critical role in addressing the global challenges we all face, balancing the tension between planet-conscious and people-centric design,” Spencer said. “By joining the High Performance Buildings Group we will be able to build upon our strong and successful history of delivering outstanding outcomes for our clients.”

The terms of the acquisition were not disclosed.
