Pasadena Carjacking Suspects Arrested Following Double Homicide in L.A.

Two men who allegedly carjacked a vehicle at gunpoint in Pasadena on Friday night were arrested following a pursuit in the freshly stolen vehicle Saturday after it was involved in a double-fatal shooting in Los Angeles, authorities said.

The suspects were taken into custody after a pursuit ended with a crash at Cesar E. Chavez Avenue and Indiana Street in the Los Angeles Police Department’s Hollenbeck Division, Pasadena police Lt. William Grisafe said.

Details regarding the shooting in LAPD’s jurisdiction were not immediately available Sunday.

But it was quickly determined that a Honda Element tied to the shooting by investigators matched the description of one carjacked at gunpoint in Pasadena, according to Grisafe.

Following the pursuit and crash, two suspects were taken into custody, Grisafe said. The carjacked Honda was recovered, along with at least one gun.

In the original carjacking, a Montclair man in his 40s had been sitting in his parked Honda Element about 7 p.m. when he was approached by two men armed with handguns who demanded he get out of the vehicle, Pasadena police Lt. Anthony Burgess said at the time.

The victim complied, and the carjackers fled in the victim’s car, which also contained his wallet, police said. The victim was also robbed of his cell phone. No injuries were reported.
