Members of a local church are preparing a feast for Pasadena firefighters this weekend as a way of showing gratitude for their service, representatives said.

The Pasadena Seventh-Day Adventist Church plans to collect dishes Saturday afternoon before bringing them to the firefighters at Station 33, according to church Community Outreach Director Aileen Ligan.

Those interested in taking part were encouraged to drop off main dishes, sides, desserts, and beverages at the church, 1280 E. Washington Blvd., between 1:30 and 2:30 p.m. so they can be delivered to the firehouse on North Lake Avenue at 3 p.m., she said. Ligan also urged donors to include a card with a message of appreciation.

The church has done similar events for local police, she said.

“For that one whole day, all the officers came through on the shifts for breakfast, lunch, and dinner,” Ligan said. “The food was provided, and before they would go back out into the streets, we would pray over them for their protection.”

“And so we also decided we wanted to include the Fire Department, especially since we have all these wildfires in the area,” she said. “We wanted just to just show them our appreciation,” she added.
