Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition Announces Holiday Lights Ride

The Pasadena Complete Streets Coalition is hosting the Holiday Lights Ride, a festive bike ride to the Christmas Tree Lane’s 103rd Annual Lighting Ceremony and Winter Festival, on Saturday, December 9th, 2023. The event will start at 5:30 PM at Pasadena Memorial Park.

The route is approximately 11 miles long with 600 feet of elevation gain. Participants are encouraged to decorate their bikes with lights and wear festive holiday attire. Helmets are required for anyone under 18 and are recommended for everyone. The group is expected to arrive at the Altadena Senior Center at approximately 7:30 PM.

The Christmas Tree Lane Lighting Ceremony and Winter Festival is a popular annual event in Altadena. The festival features delicious food and beverages, local arts and crafts vendors, and the world-famous lights of Christmas Tree Lane. The lights will stay lit for drive-bys from 5:30 PM to 11 PM through January 1, 2023.

Last year’s Holiday Lights Ride attracted around 70 participants. The event was a success, with participants enjoying the festive atmosphere, food trucks, art vendors, and the car-free street of Christmas Tree Lane.

Participants are required to sign a waiver upon arrival at the event. They are also advised to bring walking shoes, as they will have the opportunity to park or walk their bikes and enjoy the event on foot. Bikes can be parked at the Altadena Senior Center on Mariposa, where volunteers will watch over them.

This event is a great opportunity for the community to come together, enjoy a festive bike ride, and participate in a beloved local tradition.
