Two Pasadena Fire Department personnel have been assigned to help in Northern California fighting the massive Oak Fire in Mariposa County.

Pasadena Captain Robert Sepulveda and Firefighter Kevin Adair are deployed as part of a “single resource rapid extrication module support team,” known as a REMS team.

These teams can execute technical rescues with advanced life support care, and are assigned to treat and rapidly extricate firefighters who sustain injuries in remote areas and challenging terrain.

The Oak Fire Incident began Friday in the foothills of Sierra Nevada near the small community of Midpines, roughly a 9-mile drive northeast of the county seat, the town of Mariposa.

As of Sunday night the fire is reported to be 0% contained and has burned 15,603 Acres.

The cause is unknown and under investigation.
