The Pasadena-Foothills Association of REALTORS® Charitable Foundation (PFARCF) kicked off 2016 with $85,500 in grants to 24 local charities. Representatives from each non-profit gathered with Foundation directors to receive their checks and to celebrate the occasion in La Cañada Flintridge last month.

“For nearly 128 years Five Acres has supported some of the most at-risk children and families throughout Los Angeles,” said Associate Director of Development Cynthia Nickell of the Altadena-based organization. “This grant will enable us to purchase food, clothing, shoes, and personal supplies for children who live at Five Acres while they prepare to move in with foster or permanent families.”

“The REALTORS® and Affiliates of PFARCF work hard each year hosting several fundraising events,” added PFARCF Chair Matt McIntyre, “so that organizations like Five Acres can continue providing vital services in our community.”

Since 1998, PFARCF has contributed nearly $1.5 million to local charities and in scholarships for local college-bound students. The dedicated team of real estate professionals volunteers countless hours to organize fundraising events each year. In addition to the wine tasting, bingo night, and holiday wreath auction, PFARCF hosts its annual event open to the public, A Taste of Old Pasadena. Set in September, the culinary walking tour showcases some of the finest dining establishments in Old Pasadena. Stay tuned for further information.

In addition to Five Acres, the following charities benefited from PFARCF’s 2015 fundraising season: Cancer Support Community, CAPS Adult Day Care, Casa de las Amigas, Convalescent Aid Society, Door of Hope, Elizabeth House, Foothill Unity Center, Grandview Foundation, Harambee Family Center, Hillsides, Institute for the Redesign of Learning/Almansor Center, Journey House, Move a Child Higher (MACH 1), Neighborhood Urban Family Center, Pasadena Jay Cees, Pasadena Senior Center, Professional Child Development Associates, Project Cuddle, Rosemary Children’s Services, Tierra del Sol, Union Station Homeless Services, Villa Esperanza Services, and Young and Healthy.
