Dine Brands Global, Inc., the Pasadena-based company that owns and operates the Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill + Bar, International House of Pancakes (IHOP), and Fuzzy’s Taco Shop brand chains, has introduced a new Parent Transition Program aimed at supporting its employees as they attempt to balance family-building and career growth within the company.

Under the program, new parents (“both birthing and non-birthing”) will have the option to work remotely for up to 90 consecutive calendar days after returning from paid leave. A Dine Brands statement said the program aims to help employees transition smoothly back to either a hybrid or full-time office schedule.

“We learned during the pandemic the convenience that working from home provides, especially when welcoming a new child into the world,” Sarah Cannon-Foster, Chief People Officer at Dine Brands, said.

The program is now in effect for corporate team members supporting Dine and its brands across Restaurant Support Centers (RSC) in California, Texas, and Kansas.

Last year, the California Restaurant Support Center just moved from Glendale into new offices at 10 West, situated on the former Parsons Engineering campus in Old Pasadena and one of the city’s newest office developments. Dine Brands became the first tenant at 10 West, signing a lease for 92,000 square feet of office space on the fourth and fifth floors of one of three five-story buildings at 10 West in June 2022.

“We are proud to be the pioneering first tenant at 10 West, which offers expansive amenities, excellent transit accessibility, and the vibrance of a city known for its innovators,” John Peyton, Dine Brands Global CEO, said at that time. “Moving our headquarters here will enable us to further grow our business, team members, and brands. We are excited to call Old Pasadena home.”

Aside from the new Parent Transition Program, Dine Brands provides various family-focused benefits for corporate team members, such as 12 weeks of fully paid maternity leave for birthing parents, six weeks of fully paid baby bonding time for non-birthing parents, adoption assistance of up to $4,000 per adoption (or $6,000 for special needs adoptions), and family planning and fertility assistance.

The statement also said Dine Brands intends to continue other employee perks such as flexible work schedules, half-day Fridays, tuition reimbursement, pet insurance, wellness and work-life resources, dining benefits, and competitive standard benefits.

As of December 31, 2019, Dine Brands had 3,628 restaurants including 1,787 Applebee’s and 1,841 IHOP restaurants. In December 2022, Dine Brands acquired Fuzzy’s Taco Shop for $80 million, adding 138 restaurants in 18 states.

In December 2022, Dine Brands Global reported annual revenues of $909.4 million, representing an increase of $896.2 million compared to the previous year’s revenue.
