Pasadena Hiking Pacers to Scale Echo Mountain

Local hiking group the Pasadena Hiking Pacers has announced Echo Mountain as its next destination for its weekly climb this coming October 7, 2012. Echo Mountain is the location of the historic “White City,” a resort built along the scenic Mt. Lowe Railway.

The scheduled hike measures in with a round trip distance of 5.4 miles, and elevation gain/loss of 1,500 feet. The group gives the climb a level 1.5 rating, making it fit for beginners looking for an invigorating climb that will whip them up into shape.

The group will be meeting up at the Cobb Estate on Lake Ave & E Loma Alta Drive, Altadena at 7:00 a.m. sharp before the climb.

The group gives the following instructions for heading to the meeting place:

From the 210, take the Lake Avenue exit, go North from Pasadena into Altadena. Continue on the road as it climbs a hill and park near the sharp left hand turn outside the Cobb Estate. Meet in front of the large iron gate.

The Pasadena Hiking Pacers is a free organization, which means that no paperwork is necessary to join and partake of club activities. Simply show up at the designated meeting place before the hike and the group will gladly welcome you.
