Pasadena Humane Unveils Celebratory ‘Roses and Wet Noses’ Adoption Promotion Waiving Large Dog Adoption Fees

Pasadena Humane has launched its “Roses and Wet Noses” adoption program waiving adoption fees for all large dogs (40 lbs. and up) in celebration of their participation in the 135th Rose Parade.

Sponsored by Pet Care Foundation, Roses and Wet Noses will run Dec. 15 through Dec. 31.

“Float on over to Pasadena Humane and adopt your new ‘bud’ – we have a parade of pups ready to go home with you! Adoptions include spay or neuter, vaccines, and a microchip,” Pasadena Humane said in announcing the promotion.

Earlier, Pasadena Humane announced it is building a float that will be in the Rose Parade on New Year’s Day: it’s called “Feed the Love” and is sponsored by Hill’s Pet Nutrition.

“Feed the Love” is 55 feet long and celebrates the bond between pets and their people and encourages shelter pet adoption while recognizing the role that science-led nutrition plays in helping them be healthy, happy and more adoptable. From kittens playing underneath a cat tree to a hungry dog eagerly awaiting a bowl of nutritious food while sporting an “Adopt Me” bandana, the float will show what it’s like to give shelter pets a warm welcome home.

“Our 2024 float will mark the continuation of more than a century of our organization’s involvement with the Rose Parade, both as a participant and in our behind-the-scenes role of ensuring the safety of all animals in the parade,” said Dia DuVernet, President & CEO of Pasadena Humane.

Since 1903, Pasadena Humane (the Pasadena Humane Society) has offered lifesaving programs and services for animals and the people who love them in the Greater Los Angeles Area. At the Pasadena campus, the organization provides shelter, dedicated care and new beginnings for thousands of the most vulnerable animals every year.

In addition to pet adoptions and foster, Pasadena Humane focuses on programs and services aimed at helping people care for and keep their pets, such as free and low-cost spay/neuter and vaccines, a pet food pantry, and an animal support call center. Last year, Pasadena Humane helped nearly 40,000 animals through adoptions, wildlife rehabilitation, lost & found, veterinary services, and surrender prevention assistance.
