The City of Pasadena hosted its inaugural Pasadena Love, Loud & Proud event on Saturday at City Hall.

As a pop band played dance hits, residents soaked up the bright late afternoon sun and enjoyed free sandwiches provided by Subway Restaurants as they meandered through an array of community booths and children’s entertainment.

The message of the day was ‘tolerance.’

“This is very important,” said Councilmember Felicia Williams, “because this is the inaugural event for Pride Month.”

“It’s really important, one, to come together, two to be human again, and three, to recognize all of those unique qualities in ourselves and in each other, and to value and be proud of them, especially with what’s going on in our nation now, there are a lot of changes, so I’m really happy to be here.”

The event, which was hosted by Parks, Recreation, and Community Services’ Ty Snow, a popular reality show participant,  also featured photo and dress up booths, face painting, and a drag queen contest.
