The Pasadena Public Library will serve up learning and lunch this summer as part of the ‘Lunch at the Library’ program.

The program, which is in its third year, provides free books and activity kits to children and teens at locations where free lunch is served. The goal is to address food insecurity during the summer months when school is out.

Through this comprehensive program, the Pasadena Public Library aims to ensure that no child in the community goes hungry while fostering a love for reading and learning.

As part of the summer meals program, the Jefferson Branch Library staff will also provide free lunch for children and teens in partnership with the Pasadena Unified School District. Lunches will be available on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.

Additionally, a STEAM craft or music activities will be offered. The program is open to ages 0-18 and will run from noon to 2 p.m., Monday through Friday, from June 5 to July 28 at the Jefferson Branch Library located at 1500 E. Villa Street.

The project, which takes place in public libraries across California, including Southern California, provides free, healthy meals to children and teens. The program is supported by funds from the State of California and is an initiative of the California State Library.
