Pasadena police arrested a 56-year-old local man on Monday morning after he allegedly pointed a semi-automatic handgun at a man who was reportedly dating his stepdaughter. The incident occurred at around 1:00 a.m., authorities said.

According to Pasadena Police Lieutenant Sean Dawkins, the suspect, identified as Alan Blades, became upset and confronted the victim after he found out that the victim was at his stepdaughter’s residence.

Dawkins said police suspect the victim and Blades are engaged in an ongoing dispute fueled by Blades’ disapproval of the victim’s relationship with his stepdaughter.

The victim was at the stepdaughter’s home in the 200 block of Pepper Street when Blades arrived and pointed the firearm at him, Dawkins said.

The victim left the location and called the police.

The officers responded to the location and conducted an investigation. The suspect was later stopped in his vehicle and taken into custody without incident.

Blades was arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and various weapons charges, Dawkins said.

Blades was booked into the Pasadena Jail and his bail was set at $50,000.

The victim did not sustain any injuries during the incident.
