Police arrested a 42-year-old Pasadena man after he allegedly set fire to his parents’ home in the 900 block on N. Mentor Avenue in Pasadena early Tuesday morning.
Pasadena Police Lt. Mark Goodman said fire fighters were dispatched to respond to a residential fire report on the location after 4:25 a.m. and were able to control the fire.
Investigation later revealed it was a case of arson.
“Upon investigating the source of the fire, we learned that the suspect had intentionally set the fire in the kitchen of the location,” Goodman said. “The fire department’s arson investigator was on scene and assisted us with our investigation. The suspect was arrested without incident for arson. He was booked in the Pasadena city jail.”
Goodman identified the suspect as Michael Loria, 42, a Pasadena resident who lived with his parents, both in their 80s.
No one was injured in the fire and the family wasn’t displaced, Goodman added.
It isn’t known why the man set the kitchen on fire.
