A 20-year-old Pasadena man was booked on suspicion of assault with a deadly weapon when he slashed his friend during a fight early Thursday morning.

Police would not disclose the extent of the victim’s injuries.  The victim was a 20-year-old man from Los Angeles, said Pasadena police Lt. Rick Aversano.
The suspect, Daniel Altamirano, was being held in lieu of $30,000 bail at the Pasadena Police Department jail, pending his initial court appearance.
Altamirano and his friend got into a fight about 3 a.m. Thursday in the 400 block North Chester Avenue, just north of Maple Street, Averson said.
During the fight, Altamirano used a sharp weapon to slash his friend’s face, the police lieutenant. It was not immediately known what type of instrument was used in the attack.
