Pasadena Named a Top ‘Digital City’ for 6th Year

For a sixth year, Pasadena has been named to a top 10 list on the Center for Digital Government’s “Digital Cities Survey,” the organization announced last week.

The city was listed as third in the top 10 cities with populations between 125,000 and 249,999, according to a statement from the CDG.

“This is the sixth time Pasadena has been recognized as a technologically progressive and innovative city when compared to other cities of similar population size,” according to a memo from Assistant City Manager Julie Guierrez.

“The city’s response to the pandemic using technology for large-scale remote work, collaboration and virtual public meetings; cyber security investments and employee training; cloud-based data backup solutions; and a refreshed public website were highlighted in the survey results.”

The survey has been ongoing for two decades, according to the CDG statement. This year’s list “recognizes cities using technology to tackle response to the pandemic while continuing strategic initiatives to enhance services.”

CDG Co-Director Phil Bertolini commended all the cities that made the list.

“Innovative cities are utilizing technology and analyzing data to better serve their citizens, respond quickly to citizen needs around COVID-19, and support digital experience initiatives,” he said. “The Center for Digital Government congratulates this year’s winners for their hard work and their efforts to use technology to enhance citizen interactions with government.”
