Pasadena Native Bryce Young Wins Heisman Trophy

Heisman Trophy winner Bryce Young acknowledged Pasadena on Saturday after it was announced he won College Football’s highest honor for a player.

The Alabama Crimson quarterback was born in Pasadena and was a high school standout at Mater Dei High School.

He also attended the Basketball Training Institute which is held at the Boys and Girls Club on Fair Oaks Avenue.

“I like to thank my high school coaches. Coach Rylo and Coach P. They meant a lot to me, and they believed in me, especially at a young age. I’d like to thank my city, Pasadena, for molding me into the young man I am, and for the community for always showing support,” Young said. “It means the world to me. I’d like to thank the 3D QB family. Taylor Kelly. for always being by my side and pushing me to be a better player and a better person. I’d like to thank Jeff Allen and his training staff. Alabama, Miss Amy and the nutrition staff. Coach Blue and Dr. E for always having my back.”

Young passed for 4,322 yard and 43 TDs this season leading the Crimson Tide to the top spot in the College Football Playoffs (CFP).

At just  20 years old Young is Alabama’s fourth Heisman winner.

The Crimson Tide will face Cincinnati in the Cotton Bowl later this month.
