The Pasadena Outreach Response Team has successfully housed two U.S. veterans, Billy and James, who had been living unhoused in Pasadena for the past five years.

Known as PORT, the team, a collaboration between the City of Pasadena Public Health Department, the Pasadena Fire Department and Union Station Homeless Services, provides field-based outreach and assists people experiencing homelessness with linkages to housing, medical care, mental health, and substance abuse services.

The Pasadena Outreach Response Team first connected with Billy and James during Hurricane Hilary in August, providing them with shelter during the storm. Pasadena experienced historic rainfall during Hilary, the first tropical storm to hit Southern California in 84 years,

The team secured housing for James in December 2023, and last week, they found a home for Billy as well.

Both men said they are extremely thankful to the City of Pasadena and the Pasadena Outreach Response Team for making this possible.

The successful housing of Billy and James was made possible through the collaborative efforts of several organizations, including the Veterans Administration, Field of Valor, Los Angeles County Development Authority, and Union Station Homeless Services.

The Pasadena Outreach Response Team expressed their gratitude for the assistance provided by these organizations in helping the two veterans find stability and a fresh start.

By providing personalized support and connecting individuals with the resources they need, the Pasadena Outreach Response Team aims to make a lasting impact on the lives of those they serve.
