Pasadena Police Department gang unit officers arrested five suspected gang members after allegedly finding handguns in their possession in two separate traffic stops in Pasadena Saturday afternoon.
The first arrest occurred in the intersection of Los Robles Avenue and Prescott Street, where the officers conducted a traffic stop on a suspect vehicle at about 1:30 p.m.
Pasadena Police Lt. John Mercado said two men were in the vehicle, both Pasadena residents.
“During the stop, our gang unit saw a loaded handgun in the car, and checking the status, found it was stolen,” Mercado said. “The occupants were arrested for possession of stolen property and possession of a handgun.”
The suspects were identified as Ford Kelton, 19, and Kole Kelton, 20, both Pasadena residents. It was not immediately known whether they were related.
In the second incident, the officers were on patrol at Claremont Street near Sunset Avenue, when they stopped another vehicle for vehicle code violations at about 4:10 p.m. Three men were in the vehicle.
When the Gang Unit checked inside the vehicle, they reportedly found another firearm.
Mercado identified the three in the car as Robert Holloway, 25, a Pasadena resident; Shawn Sykes, 24, from Altadena; and Dimarai Hall, 21, of Pasadena.
“The first two suspects were arrested for felony possession of firearm, and the third was arrested for being a gang member and possession of a firearm,” Mercado said.
