Pasadena Police Link Cold Cases

The Pasadena Police Department has linked a 2015 homicide to an earlier murder in 2013.

According to a statement that cites public information and sources close to the Denver Lanes street gang, Tyrone English and Monte Russell’s murders are linked by an internal feud inside the gang.

Details of the feud were not made available to Pasadena Now.

“Detectives working the two cases have discovered additional information that both homicides are related,” the department said today in a statement.

Police found Tyrone English fatally shot on Feb. 28, 2013 after they received calls of shots fired in the 600 block of N. Mar Vista Avenue.

English was involved in a car jacking in 2012. In 2013 he had a physical altercation with fellow gang members in a local park one week before he was killed.

Two years later, Russell was shot multiple times in the rear parking lot of a barbershop located in the 1700 block of East Washington Boulevard. The suspects fled the scene in a grey four-door 2015 Dodge Charger. Russell was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Investigative leads suggest that Russell’s murder was also linked to an internal feud within the Pasadena Denver Lane Bloods criminal street gang.

Homicide investigators continue to seek additional information and witnesses who may have information regarding this 2015 homicide and confirm the identity of those responsible for Russell’s murder.
