Police plan to field extra patrol officers throughout Pasadena on Friday with the goal of finding and arresting intoxicated drivers, officials said.
The citywide extra enforcement campaign will focus on those driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs, Pasadena police said in a written statement.
“This pandemic is impacting all of us in difficult ways,” Pasadena police Cmdr. Mark Goodman said. “We want everyone to be as safe as possible, especially when they are on the road.”
Police reminded the public that even some prescription or over-the-counter medications have the ability to impair people’s ability to drive.
Funding for the program is being provided by a grant from the California Office of Traffic Safety, through the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.
