On April 25, a female adult victim contacted the Pasadena Police Department and told detectives she had been kidnapped and raped. The case was assigned to Pasadena Police Corporal Monica Cuellar, who immediately began her investigation. Monica was able to identify the suspect, who was arrested on July 17. Monica interviewed the suspect, who admitted he had taken the “victim” to an abandoned house where they engaged in consensual sex for money. The “suspect” had recorded the act and the verbal agreement with the “victim.” When the evidence was presented to the victim, she recanted her allegations.

On July 20 at about 4:12 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 1600 block of El Sereno Avenue regarding shots fired. On arrival, officers quickly obtained a suspect description and contained the area. Within minutes of their arrival, PPD officers located and arrested the suspect without further incident. At the time of the arrest, the suspect was armed with a semi-automatic handgun. Fortunately, no one was hit by gunfire. The suspect was booked at the Pasadena jail for attempted murder.

On July 21 at about 4:30 p.m., Pasadena Police Officer Panfilo De La Cruz was on foot patrol in Villa Parke when he recognized a suspect wanted for domestic violence. When the suspect saw Panfilo, he fled the location. Panfilo chased the suspect and took him into custody a short distance later. The suspect was booked at the Pasadena jail.

On July 22 at about 8:45 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to the 1600 block of Forest Avenue regarding a disturbance investigation. On arrival, PPD officers learned the suspect (Black, Female Adult) had taken a rifle from a closet at the residence and threatened to shoot her mother (the suspect pointed the rifle at the victim). The victim told officers her daughter was still inside the Forest residence with the weapon. Pasadena Police Sergeants Vic Alaniz and Greg Afsharian, and Lieutenant John Dewar responded to the location to manage the incident. The location was contained and PPD established a command post nearby. The Bear-Cat Rescue vehicle was deployed as a security measure. PPD officers contacted the suspect and ordered her out of the residence. After a period of time, the suspect complied with the officer’s orders. She was arrested without further incident and booked at the Pasadena jail.

On July 24 at about 2:06 a.m., Pasadena Police Officer Francis Cutkelvin conducted a traffic stop near the intersection of Del Mar Boulevard and San Gabriel Avenue. During his investigation, Francis thought the driver was possibly under the influence of alcohol (DUI). Without notice, the driver drove off. Francis broadcasted the information and requested assistance. The suspect driver ultimately lost control of his vehicle in the 1600 block San Pasqual Street. He was taken into custody without further incident.

On July 25, Pasadena Police officers responded to the 800 block of East Washington Boulevard regarding a child molestation investigation. On arrival, officers talked with the minor children who said they had been inappropriately touched by the suspect on several occasions. The suspect is the boyfriend of the victim’s grandmother. PPD officers identified the suspect and detectives will follow up. Investigation is ongoing.

On July 27 at about 8:28 p.m., Pasadena Police officers responded to Huntington Memorial Hospital regarding a victim suffering from non-lethal stab wounds. On arrival officers learned the victim and the suspect know one another. Officers determined the victim was stabbed during an altercation at a picnic earlier in the day at MacDonald Park. PPD officers responded to the suspect’s residence; however, he was not located. Investigation is ongoing.
