After Closure of Central Library, Pasadena To Reopen 4 Libraries for In-Person Service

Published on Wednesday, May 5, 2021 | 9:36 am

Pasadena Public Library will reopen four library branches for in-person service and expand the hours of its Hastings and La Pintoresca branches the week of May 10.

The move comes two days after a city building official declared the historic Pasadena Central Library unsafe due to unreinforced masonry used in its construction and ordered the facility closed.

Hastings and La Pintoresca branches will expand their hours of service to the public beginning May 11. Allendale and Hill Avenue branch libraries will expand their curbside pickup service hours for library holds beginning May 10.

With Pasadena entering the yellow tier of the State’s Blueprint for a Safer Economy, libraries have been cleared to safely reopen at a reduced capacity, while requiring face coverings and maintaining six feet physical distance for customers. In preparation for reopening its doors to the public, Pasadena Public Library is working diligently to ensure all protocols for public health and safety, cleanliness and physical distancing are in place.

* Avoid entering the library if you are experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms or feeling sick
