Pasadena’s Department of Public Works was conferred the “Greening the Arroyo-Agency” award in recognition of its planning, outreach and collaboration efforts on the Oak Grove Area Improvement (OGAI) Project in Hahamongna.
The award was made by the Arroyo Seco Foundation and the Council of Arroyo Seco Organizations (CASA) during their annual Arroyo Verde Awards for outstanding efforts in the Arroyo Seco.
The Arroyo Awards event was held Dec. 16 at the Los Angeles County Fire Camp Number 2 at Hahamongna Watershed Park in La Canada Flintridge.
Siobhan Foster, Director of Public Works, said in a letter to City Manager Michael Beck the “Greening the Arroyo-Agency” award was bestowed on the city or governmental agency that has demonstrated outstanding leadership in the stewardship of the Arroyo
The Arroyo Verde Awards are given out by the Council of Arroyo Seco Organizations and the Arroyo Seco Foundation to recognize and give thanks to those who have made a valuable contribution to protecting and improving the Arroyo Seco Watershed and local communities.
Other awards conferred were for “Best Advocacyâ€; “Greening the Arroyo-Organization”; “Greening the Arroyo-Business; “Best Volunteer”; “Citizen Activist”; “Public Official†and “Lifetime Achievement”.
The OGAI project geographically includes the western portion of Hahamongna Watershed Park from the Flint Wash Bridge, north, to the southern edge of the Hahamongna Annex area.
There are five projects in the current capital improvement program with funding that are located within the OGAI project area: Oak Grove Area Improvements; Trail Development; Berkshire Creek Area Improvements; Habitat Restoration and Oak Grove Disc Golf Course Improvements.
The Arroyo Seco watershed stretches from the San Gabriel Mountains to Downtown Los Angeles.
