New COVID-19 infections in Pasadena have remained in single digits for well over two weeks, with two new infections and no new fatalities documented on Monday, according to city data.

The figure raised the city’s total number of COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic to 11,180. The local death toll stood stable at 339, where it has remained since Wednesday, when three additional deaths were reported.

Pasadena had not recorded more than eight daily cases since March 25, when 13 new infections were detected.

The city’s most recent three fatalities were reported Wednesday.

Over the prior week, Pasadena saw an average of 3.7 new infections daily, according to city data.

As of Monday, 68,280, or 57.9% of Pasadena’s population over 16 years old, had received at least one dose of vaccine, according to city data. Just under 41,600 Pasadenans were fully vaccinated.

The Los Angeles County Department of Public health listed an additional three COVID-19 deaths on Monday, bringing the cumulative county death toll during the pandemic to 23,479, City News Service reported.

Another 411 cases were also reported, pushing the overall pandemic total in the county to 1,226,191. The numbers of new cases and deaths are typically low on Mondays due to reporting lags from the weekend.

L.A. County Director of Public Health Barbara Ferrer, however, told CNS that the county’s average daily number of newly reported cases has dropped to about 400, which is lower than it was one year ago in the early stages of the pandemic.

State figures reflected 471 people hospitalized due to COVID in Los Angeles County as of Monday, with 116 people in intensive care units, according to CNS.

The California Department of Public Health announced 2,649 new infections and 31 deaths on Monday. In total, the state has tallied 3,602,827 cases of the virus and 59,249 fatalities.

The statewide average positivity rate over the prior week was recorded at 1.5%, according to CDPH data.

As of Monday, L.A. County represented 34% of California’s COVID-19 infections and 40% of the state’s deaths.
